Meadowlands Golf Resort is currently seeking the role of Assistant Superintendent. Located in Sylvan Lake Alberta, Meadowlands Golf Club is an 18-hole semi-private golf course. Being situated in Sylvan Lake, Meadowlands has been a destination for numerous golfers throughout the years. We offer a family-friendly environment that caters to all types of golfers’ skill levels. From junior tees to a challenging set of back tees, the entire family can enjoy a fun round of golf.

Description of Role

The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for the leadership of the turf care department’s day-to-day operations. It is expected the Assistant Superintendent will be a professional individual who will act as a representative and leader for the golf course turf department and as an extension of the Golf Course Superintendent in their absence.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent on all aspects of the turf department including but not limited to:
– Be a mentor leading, teaching, and aspiring staff to develop themselves and the efficiencies of the operation
– Communicates regularly with the Superintendent
– Maintain and operate the golf course irrigation system
– Safely apply all forms of chemicals and fertilizer to the golf course
– Organize daily job board and run morning staff meetings
– Monitor golf course grooming and supervise employees, ensuring programs meet expectations and Meadowlands standards
– Be able to work independently and take on some of the responsibilities of the Superintendent in their absence

Desired Experience

A successful applicant will possess the following:

– Diploma/Degree or in the process of completing such education
– A minimum of 3 years of turf maintenance experience in a supervisory role
– Good supervisory, training and coaching skills
– Good verbal and written communication skills
– Familiarity with Toro Irrigation
– Experience with spraying
– Pesticide applicator certificate or ability to obtain one
