The Picture Butte Golf Club has a very storied history, and a reputation for being recognized as one of Southern Alberta’s most desired golf facilities. Located a short 15-minute drive from Lethbridge, this 27-Hole Golf Course is set alongside the coulees, offers a layout for all level of golfer, desirable playing conditions, and a club atmosphere that is second to none.

Description of Role

We are seeking a personable, dedicated, results driven Superintendent who will oversee all aspects of our golf maintenance department.  This Superintendent will be a member of the management leadership team and is responsible for the overall maintenance / management of the entire ground’s property.  The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of golf, one who drives innovation, and will adapt their knowledge and work practice to the desire and requests of our playing membership and guests.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Recruit, train & retain high performing team members
  • Stong leadership and team management skills
  • Implement maintenance programs, including irrigation, fertilization, and turf health.
  • Optimize course playing conditions, playability and aesthetics
  • Operate and maintain golf course equipment, ensuring proper care and efficient usage.
  • Irrigation and water management
  • Prepare and manage an annual grounds budget including general operating, capital projects / purchases
  • Works closely with the club’s management team and Board of Directors to best enhance player experience

Desired Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant Superintendent
  • Proven success as a Superintendent at a facility of similar size and volume
  • Degree or Diploma in Turfgrass Management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Valid pesticides application license
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with staff, members and community
