Nanton Golf Club is a semi private 18-hole championship golf course located 45min south of Calgary. We are a busy club with 300+ members and average 30K+ rounds a year.

Description of Role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated superintendent to lead the maintenance team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in turfgrass management, environmental stewardship, and leadership. Should have a strong understanding of the game of golf and how it applies to playing conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and turf care for an 18-hole championship course and 3-hole junior course.
  • Plan and implement maintenance programs, including irrigation, fertilization, pest management, and overall turf health.
  • Ability to hire, motivate and coach new team members
  • Operate and maintain golf course equipment, ensuring proper care and efficient usage.
  • Monitor course conditions and adjust as needed to optimize playability and aesthetics.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the maintenance department, controlling costs while maintaining high standards.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and other departments to enhance the golfer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations

Desired Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Strong understanding of turfgrass species, soil science, and pest/disease management.
  • Licensed to apply fungicides and pesticides.
  • Familiarity with irrigation systems, water management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by course conditions.
