Organization Summary
The Canal at Delacour is a semi-private golf course located 10 minutes east of Calgary. Opened in 2005 the course has received such prestigious honours as being nominated as one of the best new golf courses in Canada and is recognized by Calgary area golfers as one of the best golf courses in the Calgary region. Built as a links style golf course featuring undulating greens, wide open fairways, this course will challenge players of all skill levels.
The Canal at Delacour has 160,000 sq ft. of A-4 bent grass greens, 25 acre of drought resistant Kentucky Bluegrass, and rolling hills of thick fescue, a HDPE Rainbird Irrigation System, and a well-maintained fleet of Toro and John Deere equipment.

As a key member of the management team the Assistant Superintendent will assist in the day-to-day operation of the golf course, staff scheduling, cultural practices, and fertility applications, and irrigation management. This position requires someone who is dedicated, responsible, enthusiastic, and willing to build a positive work environment. This is a hands-on position with an opportunity for the right individual to grow and develop their skills in the industry.

• Assign daily staff duties.
• Aid in instruction of all Turf Care staff regarding safe operation of equipment, equipment usage, proper cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure that all equipment is being operated in a safe manner.
• Communicate course conditions (frost delays, area closures) to the Head Professional/ Pro Shop Staff as required by the Superintendent.
• Assist in application of all agronomic practices (fertility, IPM, cultural).
• Assist in all irrigation practices, both scheduling and maintenance
• Assist in overseeing and maintain the equipment area for orderly storage and cleanliness.
• Assist in the management of all non-turf areas. (Trees, shrubs, flowers, clubhouse grounds).
• Assist in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
• Engage with all team members to promote a positive work environment.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent.

• Turf education or 3 – 5 years in a leadership role at a golf course.
• Self motivated and strong work ethic.
• Valid Alberta Pesticide License (or willingness to obtain within one year).
• Excellent communication and verbal skills
• Willing to learn and grow as a Leader and Turf Manager
• Valid drivers license

• Base salary of $55,000 – $60,000 depending on experience
