Description of Role
Reporting to a Senior Assistant Superintendent and working with the Turfcare Management team, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course. This is a full-time year-round position. Shifts may include weekdays, weekends and evenings.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Communicate effectively and professionally between departments and to members
- Ensure the delivery of high-level playing conditions that are consistent with member expectations and evolving trends
- Ensure compliance with all Glencoe Health and Safety standards and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Work with the Turfcare management team for daily planning to help achieve Club standards
- Ensure that sound instruction is being delivered to equipment operators on the operation and care of all golf course and construction equipment
- Participate in the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system that includes irrigation control, sprinkler head performance and repair
- Ensure that accurate, complete, and timely records are organized related to task tracking and pesticide records
- Assist in evaluation of hourly Turfcare employees
Desired Experience
- Graduated from a Turfgrass orientated post-secondary program with Diploma or greater
- Working knowledge of soil fertility, diseases, pesticides and pest control methods and materials, the irrigation system including wells, pumps, automatic controls and drainage
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid Alberta Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain one
- An understanding of the rules of golf and strategies of the game of golf
- Building a working knowledge of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision-making
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skillful in use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Embodies The Glencoe Golf & Country Club’s “Organizational Values” and can educate and train fellow team members about them
- Proven ability to enhance performance, through effective delegation, goal setting, coaching, empowerment, and recognition.

- Access to reliable transportation as there is no public transportation available to our location
Compensation and Perks
Salary based on experience, starting at $60,000
