Description of Role
Reporting to the Sr. Assistant Superintendent, Silver Springs is seeking an Assistant Superintendent who embodies a positive attitude, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset. In collaboration with the senior leadership group and seasonal team, the successful candidate will contribute to maintaining the highest standards in golf course management. This role presents a unique opportunity for professional and personal growth in a fast paced, results driven environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Teaching expectations and standards to ensure all tasks performed exceed expectations.
- Golf course and grounds day to day operations.
- Train and supervise team members (development, implementation and record keeping)
- Staffing (recruiting, hiring, scheduling, updating senior leadership team)
- Cultural practice and fertility programs (development, implementation, supervision, and record keeping)
- Sprayer and fertilizer spreader operation and calibration.
- Irrigation practices (diagnostics, repairs, daily scheduling, hand watering and record keeping)
- OHS and Safe2day program involvement.
- Seasonal team management and foster positive leadership and communication within the turf care team.
- Involvement with Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses re-certifications
Desired Experience
- Alignment with Silver Springs’ mission, vision, and values.
- Self-starter with an interest in developing leadership and professional skills.
- Post secondary diploma or degree in a Turfgrass program or equivalent.
- Experience in a supervisory role or position preferred but not required.
- Genuinely enjoy engaging with team members to get work done.
- Open to ideas and concepts presented by other team members.
- Actively listen to ensure you’ve understood directions and grasped new information.
- Valid Alberta Pesticide Applicators License (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Alberta drivers license.
