Wintergreen boasts an 18-hole championship course with a practice facility for putting, short and long game range as well as a spacious clubhouse that provides a relaxed, country atmosphere.

The Assistant Superintendent plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the golf course, surrounding grounds, and all on-site facilities are maintained to the highest standards. In the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent, this position assumes full responsibility for Turf Care operations, including staffing, maintenance practices, and facility oversight. Working closely under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent is accountable for implementing and overseeing all Turf Care practices, as well as the health and safety program. This role requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management, a solid understanding of golf course construction methods, and a deep appreciation for the rules and strategies of the game of golf. Key responsibilities include training and scheduling the Turf Care team, ensuring efficient daily maintenance operations, and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. The crew relies on the Assistant Superintendent for clear direction and support in achieving course conditions that exceed expectations. You take pride in delivering an exceptional golf experience for our members and guests—helping to create unforgettable moments through meticulous care and attention to detail.

• Interview, hire, train, direct and supervise a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent work together in preparing and implementing the annual maintenance programs
• Ensure that proper staff training is carried out regarding procedures, health and safety training and equipment operation
• Lead daily meetings with Turf Care staff; update employees on schedule variations, work progress, and setting goals
• Be responsible for entering and approving employee hours
• Represent the Turf Care department on the Wintergreen Joint Health and Safety Committee.
• Assist with course maintenance as necessary. This is a hands-on role where you will be leading by example
• Have a strong understanding of the golf course layout to ensure duties can be carried out safely and without disruption to players

• Possess excellent organizational and communication skills
• Have experience with calibration and operation of a boom sprayer
• Have operational knowledge of all Turf Care equipment
• Are a holder of a Class 5 Drivers License
• Have a minimum of 3 years related experience
• Must have Golf Course experience
• Possess post-Secondary education in related areas (Turf Grass Management Diploma or in the process of obtaining it)
• Have your Alberta Pesticide Applicator License or willing to obtain
• Must have a valid Canadian Work Permit
