Description of Role

Oakcreek has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Irrigation Sales Representative to join our team. Our ideal candidate enjoys a challenge, takes initiative and thrives as business issues increase in complexity.  We are seeking an experienced Irrigation Sales/Technical Representative to fill a position at our Edmonton, Alberta location.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Irrigation Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Promote and represent Oakcreek and all of its manufacturers.
  • Call on current and prospective clientele in a geographic territory to promote manufacturer’s products and service.
  • Introduce new products and technologies.
  • Generate orders to meet or exceed pre-established and agreed upon objectives.
  • Assist clients with questions about manufacturer’s products and applications, including providing technical troubleshooting and training on irrigation system design, installation and maintenance.
  • Track and document sales leads, customer service issues and account maintenance.
  • Work with corporate sales team to communicate leads outside of your geographic territory.
  • Monitor changing market conditions, product innovations and understand differences in competitor products, prices and sales.
  • Obtain and submit competitive information on programs, new products and an estimation of market shares on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop an annual territory sales forecast of requirements, reviewed and adjusted on a monthly basis.
  • Manage irrigation inventory within your branch location.
  • Complete and submit lost sales reports and weekly sales plans.
  • Attend trade shows, sales meetings and sales training seminars.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as requested by your manager.

Desired Experience

  • Minimum two to five years of technical product and irrigation sales experience in the golf market is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success meeting sales goals and growing sales.
  • Strong analytical, priority management, problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize issues.
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Technically proficient with computer software installation and operation.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels and departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
  • You will be required to travel to the US or abroad for vendor-specific certification. A valid passport and ability to enter countries outside of Canada is a requirement for the position.
  • You will be required to travel around your sales territory, which will include overnighting on numerous occasions throughout the season.
