Country Hills Golf Club is a jewel among Southern Alberta’s premier golf courses. Set amidst the rising, west-facing cliffs of the Sandstone Valley this private member’s club offers an extraordinary golfing experience right in the heart of the city of Calgary. Country Hills Golf Club provides 36 holes with two distinct, 18-hole championship courses. Our membership community is inclusive and centered around a common love of golf. Description of Role

The club is looking for a positive, highly motivated person to join our turf management team. The successful candidate will support management in the daily operation of the grounds department, with the goal of growing into an Assistant-In-Training.  This is currently a full-time seasonal position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the management team in any and all aspects of golf course maintenance
  • Supervise, organize, and lead staff while promoting a safe, positive, and cooperative work environment
  • Participate in the execution of the courses’ fertility and IPM programs
  • Create and execute goals that align with your studies and long-term growth in our industry
  • Set a positive example for other staff members in attitude, appearance, and work ethic
  • Keep accurate daily logs of activities and key events
  • Assist in training staff, monitoring performance, and documenting results
  • Anticipate and recognize problems and devising solutions
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks dictated by the needs of the club as well as your interests
  • Participate in the club’s health & safety programs

Desired Experience

  • A positive attitude, desire to learn, and love of the outdoors
  • Proven ability as a leader on a positive, progressive, goal-oriented team
  • A strong desire to continually improve the courses and the grounds department’s practices
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from turfgrass related education
  • Knowledge of turf management practices and products and the drive to continue learning more
  • Previous golf course maintenance experience is an asset but not required
  • Knowledge of the rules and game of golf and a genuine enjoyment of the game
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

Compensation and Perks

  • Hourly rate ranging from $20 to $24 / hour full-time
