Description of Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Turf Intern to join our Grounds team for the upcoming golf season. This position is ideal for students currently enrolled in, or recent graduates of, a turfgrass management or related program who are eager to gain practical experience and grow within the golf industry.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, gaining exposure to daily operations, long-term planning, and leadership responsibilities, with the opportunity to progress toward an Assistant-in-Training role.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the management team with daily golf course maintenance operations
- Participate in course set-up, mowing practices, and cultural programs
- Support fertilizer, pesticide, and IPM applications under supervision
- Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Help lead and motivate crew members while promoting a safe work environment
- Contribute to special projects, renovations, and course improvements
- Maintain accurate records and daily logs as required
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and performance feedback
- Uphold club standards in professionalism, appearance, and work ethic
- Complete additional duties as assigned based on operational needs and learning goals
Desired Experience
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a turfgrass management or related program, or the desire to consider enrolling
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in golf course management
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Previous golf course or landscape experience is an asset
- Basic knowledge of turf maintenance practices and the game of golf
- Valid driver’s license and legal eligibility to work in Canada
Compensation and Perks
- Hourly wage: $21.00/hour – $24.00/hour, based on experience
