Summary
Located in the ever expanding community of Okotoks Alberta, 15 minutes south of Calgary, Crystal Ridge is a semi-private 9 hole facility with a ton of personality and something for everyone. It also includes an 18 hole mini putt course and an extremely popular restaurant in William’s Ridgehouse.
Description of Role
Crystal Ridge golf course is looking for a reliable, motivated and skilled individual to lead the Turf team in the maintenance and upkeep of the property. This includes turf management, fertilizer and pesticide applications, record keeping, employee task/time management and equipment repair and maintenance.
Mechanic ability is required.
This individual will work closely with management to achieve the desired course conditions that Crystal Ridge’s members and guests have become accustomed to and lead the Turf Care team in completing those daily tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Hire, train, organize and supervise staff
- Monitor turf health and course conditions
- Implement the club’s maintenance and safety policies
- Plan and execute fertilizer and pesticide applications
- Keep up to date and detailed records of fertilizer and pesticide use, equipment maintenance and service intervals
- Effectively manage and evaluate staff
- Work with management to plan, lead and execute various projects and cultural practices
- Troubleshoot, repair and service all maintenance equipment
- Identify and plan for potential equipment upgrades and course improvements.
- Implement an irrigation schedule, identify hand watering needs and be competent in irrigation repair.
- Upkeep, repair, and improvements to the mini putt course
- Snow removal during the winter months for the club’s parking lots and surrounding sidewalks
Desired Experience
- Golf Course Maintenance Experience (preferably 3+ years)
- Previous experience as a Superintendent is valued but not required
- Previous experience as a Mechanic is required
- A Degree or Diploma from a recognized Turf Management Program, either completed or in the process of completing is valued but not required.
- A valid Alberta Pesticide Applicators license or the ability to obtain one within the first year
- Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable means to get to and from work
- Experience with Irrigation maintenance, operation and repair is a strong asset.
- Experience with record keeping and data management
